Fall for Berry Lips

Lipstick has come a long way from it’s origin in Mesopotamia where they crushed gemstones and put that to their lips, it is all not as vile as the ingredients mixed up in Egypt, nor as deadly as the arsenic laced version from the Victorian era. Today, we have more shade options than ever and more access to a million different kinds of lipstick than we could ever hope to grasp.

This fall, the top shades are deep reds, berry colors, and nude lips.

I have a hunch that berries are going to be more popular than ever, reds will always be classic, but nude lips are always more alluring in thought than in practice. I think shades of berries and reds are the most flattering to a wide range of skin tones.

Here are some of my favorite berry shades:

Kryolan makes good professional grade makeup at a good price (around $9), this lipstick shade is lovely.

Elf makes one lip color in “Rich Red” that is the most amazing thing - it stay on and is only $3!

Who knows where we would be without Mac Cosmetics, this lipstick in deep raspberry is glorious ($16)

Burt’s Bees in Plum or Fig (sold at Adorn $4)
