Adorn Welcomes Our Newest Member: Christine Beamer

Christine Beamer has been in the spa industry for 10 years. She is a jack-of-all-trades in the spa field - having obtained licenses in massage, skin care, nails, and makeup. We are so lucky to have found her and have been enjoying her passion and creativity throughout the workday. We hope you love her as much as we do!

So, you have been in the spa industry for 10 years, but what originally brought you into the business?

CB: My best friend and I used to sit up all night as kids putting on face masques, tweezing brows, playing with makeup, and polishing our nails. To me the spa industry feels like a never ending slumber party.

What is the most recent exciting thing you have experimented with at work?

CB: the Halloween makeup. It's going to be so much fun!!

What are you most looking forward to at Adorn and through the holiday season?

CB: For the holiday season I am really looking forward to offering more spa treatments. Massage, facials, and body treatments. Getting rid of extra stress and primping to attend family gatherings and parties, are things that we should all include in our holiday plans
What is your favorite hobby outside of work?

CB: I don't know if this counts as a hobby but I love movies! I love special effects makeup! I've always wanted to work in the special effects industry.
How long have you lived in Asheville?

CB: I've been in Asheville three years. I'm originally from Delaware.

What is your favorite place to go in Asheville and why?

CB: My favorite place in Asheville is bean works in west Asheville. It just smells so good!!!

From Hot to Cold: Skincare reminder

As we move away from the warmer months and into the cooler ones, we need to consider our skin. Cold weather can exacerbate any kind of skin condition you may have, from acne to dry patches. It is especially hard on those with sensitive skin because the skin's balance gets thrown off and so it doesn't know what it wants to do. I want to remind everyone to make sure they are using some kind of sunscreen/moisturizer. We here at Adorn love Weleda products as well as Intelligent Nutrients, both are packed with plant power that deliver the maximum amount of benefits to the skin.

A good way to ease your skin into the colder weather is to remember to get a facial, we use the Intelligent Nutrients Plant Stem Cell line. The company says:

Our revolutionary process captures plant stem cells at peak potency for up to 1,000 times the antioxidant activity of conventional ingredients. Edelweiss visibly reduces wrinkle depth, coneflower increases skin hydration and elasticity while pennywort visibly improves skin texture and appearance up to 90% by moisturizing the skin.

Call now to book a facial or ask about our products and don't let the winter get you down!

Fall for Berry Lips

Lipstick has come a long way from it’s origin in Mesopotamia where they crushed gemstones and put that to their lips, it is all not as vile as the ingredients mixed up in Egypt, nor as deadly as the arsenic laced version from the Victorian era. Today, we have more shade options than ever and more access to a million different kinds of lipstick than we could ever hope to grasp.

This fall, the top shades are deep reds, berry colors, and nude lips.

I have a hunch that berries are going to be more popular than ever, reds will always be classic, but nude lips are always more alluring in thought than in practice. I think shades of berries and reds are the most flattering to a wide range of skin tones.

Here are some of my favorite berry shades:

Kryolan makes good professional grade makeup at a good price (around $9), this lipstick shade is lovely.

Elf makes one lip color in “Rich Red” that is the most amazing thing - it stay on and is only $3!

Who knows where we would be without Mac Cosmetics, this lipstick in deep raspberry is glorious ($16)

Burt’s Bees in Plum or Fig (sold at Adorn $4)
